Who we are

Acorn & Pip Community CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise rooted in Slaithwaite. We exist to bring families together, reduce isolation, and create practical opportunities for children, teens and parents to thrive. Any profit we generate will be reinvested straight back into community programmes, events and our family-friendly space.

What we aim to do

We’re building a welcoming, low-barrier hub where support feels natural and everyday. Our focus for year one:

  • Together at the Table: community meals and conversations that make everyone feel included.

  • Newborn Nurture: gentle, judgement-free sessions for new parents and carers.

  • Teen Hospitality Workshops: confidence, customer care and employability skills led with real industry know-how.

  • Creative Family Sessions: hands-on craft, play and story activities that spark connection.

  • Cost-sensible Events: high-impact, low-cost activities so no one is priced out.

  • Space with Purpose: a refreshed play area and café layout designed for togetherness, accessibility and dignity.

Opportunities we’ll be creating

We’re opening doors for people and partners who want to make a difference:

  • Young People: skills training, CV support, real-world experience and pathways into work.

  • Parents & Carers: peer circles, practical workshops and friendly signposting to local services.

  • Community Volunteers: meaningful roles in events, welcoming, mentoring and operations.

  • Local Makers & Practitioners: paid facilitation opportunities to run high-quality sessions.

  • Partners & Sponsors: fund a programme, sponsor equipment, or back pay-it-forward places for families.

  • Schools, Health & Community Orgs: collaborate on targeted sessions that meet local needs.
