You Probably Didn't Know This About Our Dinosaurs...

It is a day that marks the ‘’interdependence that exists among human beings, other living species and the planet we all inhabit". And what better way to embrace it than to recognise the amazing work done by Best Years – The supplier of our gorgeous knitted dinosaur toys in helping provide education to communities in rural Bangladesh.
For a number of years now, Best Years have used the profits from the dinosaur toys to help fund pre-schools for Pebble workers in rural Bangladesh, allowing them to remain close to their children whilst they work.
Education is extremely sought after in Rural Bangladesh with the fear of poverty meaning that still 29% of girls are married before the age of 15. They are forced to take this route to secure economic and social security; but with the opportunity for education they are able to break the cycle, delay marriage and early motherhood and create a brighter future for themselves.
Liz and Gaynor are the founders of Best Years Ltd opened the first school in December 2014 in the Hathay Bunano area of Bangladesh. At this time preschool was a brand new concept to the locals with children usually starting school at aged 6. This pre schools have provided irreplaceable benefits to the community in more ways than just education, it has provided a safety. In delta regions such as Bangladesh, drowning is the single highest killer of children under 5, with the 3 large rivers running through the area to the Bay of Bengal causing constant flooding during monsoon seasons.
The schools provide a safe haven for young children and a sense of security for parents whilst they work. They may not have ipads or electronic equipment, but the access to books, posters and dedicated teachers provides hope and opportunity beyond measure. The children are now able to expand their knowledge in their own language but also have the opportunity to learn basic English and skills to help create a promising and fulfilling future.
The profits have funded the opening of 2 schools so far and we can’t thank all our wonderful customers enough for your support in making such a huge difference to the lives of so many.
